I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

Not a soul made any suggestions on the borders.  Does no one have an opinion?!?!?!  (Dramatic Sigh here) Oh well.  :-)

  1. I just found your blog thanks to Celebrate Hand Quilting! I'm always good for an opinion (although I'm not always sure how useful they are). :) I like to finish my whole quilt before marking for a couple of reasons. One reason is that having the border attached assures that the outside seams on my blocks won't come undone in the process of working with my top to mark it. The second reason is that I often will have an idea of how I want to mark my quilt, and then change my idea altogether. Having the border attached is handy if you're suddenly inspired by a different pattern that incorporates your blocks and the border. Once you've marked your quilt, unmarking is a hassle, if not impossible. I'd hate for you to put your borders on after marking and then wish you'd gone a whole other direction. That's just my thinking on it...contrary to what the quilt police might think, you really are allowed to come up with your own "rules" when it comes to quilting. :)

  2. I agree. I won't mark those until last. I've already marked some things I'm thinking I may have to take off because I need to iron the quilt again and I can't do that with the markings on. Ugh. That is a set back not to mention a waste of my time. I marked it and if I have to remove it I will have to wet it, wait for it to dry then iron then mark it again. :-( I'm a very sad grammy that's for sure.

    1. Every mistake you make now will make you a better quilter in the future! (at least that's what I tell myself when I'm discouraged about something I wish I'd done differently) :)

  3. That is sort of what I keep telling myself too. Thanks for that. I am honestly trying to keep a possitive outlook with this mistake. It is really discouraging. I'm so afraid to iron the piece but will have to iron it after I finish embroidering the names. I can't pin baste it with so many wrinkles in it. :-(
